Awesome news!

I am SO excited about the success of the Concubine Prince series! It’s been going really well, and I’m so happy that people are having as much fun reading it as I am writing it.

Here’s some of the great things that have happened so far:

things to make you say yay ARe

See that little star next to the book info? That means that Book One has been in a category top ten on All Romance eBooks! This is definitely thanks, at least in part, to ARe’s great Valentine’s Day sale.

But ARe isn’t the only place the series has been seeing success.

I’ve now had category top 100s on Amazon UK, Amazon Canada and Amazon Germany! Best of all, category top TENS in Canada – I love you, Canada ❤

Too exciting, right? I actually squealed when I saw that, and it made my month. I only hope that it’s onward and upward from here on in. This is a very exciting start to my writing career, and I can’t wait to see what people think of the next book.

Thank you so much to everyone who’s bought any of my books, I’d love to hear your thoughts, and feedback for the books on your favourite bookstore is always appreciated.

Excerpt:

“Don’t look so afraid. It will feel good, I promise.” Kam nods, still feeling nervous. “We’ll start slowly. With a kiss.”

Putting a hand beneath Kam’s chin, Ryuu tilts his head up to kiss him. Kam’s eyes flutter shut; he’s never been kissed before, he doesn’t know what he should do. Jian might have trained him in using his mouth to pleasure Ryuu, but kissing wasn’t part of that. Indeed, from what Kam understands, no-one but Ryuu himself is allowed to kiss his concubines, save for any permissions he might give, as he has to Yenna and Buri.

All of these thoughts race through his head before Ryuu’s lips touch his, but once they do, all thought is whisked from Kam’s mind. The kiss is soft, and sweet, and instantly Kam relaxes. It makes him want to melt against Ryuu, but instead he rests a hand on his chest. Never would he have thought that a simple kiss could affect him like this, but it affects him even more when Ryuu opens his mouth to slide his tongue between Kam’s lips. Kam moans, and this time he does melt against Ryuu’s body, pressing close, and his hands grab Ryuu’s robe to keep him where he is. Gingerly at first, he strokes his tongue against Ryuu’s; but when Ryuu hums approvingly, he does it again.

So this is what kissing is, he thinks breathlessly. It’s like being swept away on a tide, tugged by the undertow.

“So you do want me,” Ryuu says, and Kam’s throat feels too thick to answer. It’s wrong, and he shouldn’t – he especially shouldn’t want this man who is his captor. Ryuu takes hold of Kam’s jaw, and makes him look at him. His dark eyes are bright with desire, and it makes Kam feel weak to see how much he wants him. “Tell me, Kam.”

“I- I-”

“I can feel how hard you are – there’s no point denying it.”

“If you know, why ask?”

“Because I’m your master, and I want to hear it.” At the word master Kam wants to drop to his knees, to get into that same utterly submissive bow, but Ryuu’s hands, tight on his jaw and hip, hold him where he is. His cheeks burn at the humiliation of having to say the words, but even that makes his cock throb.

Excerpt

When he reaches the dais, Kam lowers himself onto his knees, as the advisor told him, and then he drops into a full bow so that his forehead touches the floor. The advisor says something in Tarrese that takes a long time and sounds very flowery. Kam stays where he is, wondering how he’s supposed to know when to rise.

Eventually, sounding annoyed, the advisor says in Common, “Greet your new master, concubine.”

Kam stands and forces himself to look up at Ryuu, who still has that appreciative smile on his lips. He steps up onto the dais, and then drops to his knees, bowing his head to Ryuu.

“This is Kam, prince of Ramia,” Emperor Jian says, to Ryuu and to the court as a whole, in Common so that everyone can understand. “As part of a treaty joining Ramia to our glorious Tarrese Empire, Kam has surrendered himself to us, as is tradition, to be my son’s concubine. I acknowledge his bravery, and thank him on behalf of both myself and all the people of my empire for his noble act.” There is a polite-sounding round of applause. “Now, Crown Prince Ryuu will collar his concubine, and take his first pleasure from him.”

Ryuu stands and steps forward, and Kam notices that he has a collar of gold in his hands, about an inch high and very thin, with a ring at the front of it.

“You are my concubine,” he says, his voice deep and rich, very manly, and despite everything Kam feels his cock twitch at the sound of it. Ryuu puts a hand beneath Kam’s chin to tilt his head up, so that their eyes meet. Kam is startled to see Ryuu looking at him like he’s an incredibly precious thing, like the most wonderful gift imaginable. It startles him out of his fear and his self-pity.

“I – I am yours,” he manages, remembering the words. “I am your concubine.”

“And I am your master,” Ryuu says, and puts the collar around Kam’s neck. It clicks with a finality, and Kam’s mouth moves wordlessly, feeling that now even more than with the tattoo, his fate truly is sealed.

Excerpt:

When Unther has finished reading, he looks up at Jian. For a long moment he doesn’t say anything, just looks at him as though trying to figure out what his plan is, why he is giving Ramia such a generous treaty.

“And the exchange of prisoners? No doubt you want every prisoner of war handed over to you, every Tarrese who has ever graced our prisons.”

“The prisoners of war, yes; but those will be exchanged for your own prisoners. The king, however; we require a much more precious exchange for him.”

“Spit the words out,” Unther says, but Jian only smiles.

“All royal families whose countries belong to the Empire give their second child to the imperial family.”

The second child would be Kam, and he stares at Jian. “What do you mean, ‘give’?”

“These princes and princesses join the imperial harems,” Jian says, and his smile widens as he looks Kam up and down hungrily. “You would belong to my son, Ryuu, who will be emperor after me. My own tastes don’t much run to men, but Ryuu’s do – and you’re such a pretty thing, Prince Kam.”

“No,” Unther growls, while Kam is still processing his words. “I will not give my brother over for you to use as a whore.”

“As I said, I have little interest in him myself,” Jian says, though the lustful look in his eyes suggests he has at least some interest. “And he would be an honoured concubine, living in luxury and doted upon.”

Concubine, Kam thinks weakly, feeling like he’s been punched in the gut. They want me as a concubine? The prince’s concubine?

The very thought would be a horror to most of Ramia: same-sex attraction is seen as abhorrent, a great sin against the gods. That Kam secretly favours men to women – indeed, he has no interest in women at all – is a close kept secret. Not even his family knows: he’d have to go into exile or face execution. But to be forced into doing whatever Prince Ryuu wants fills him with horror and terror – and if there’s also a slight bit of curiosity and desire mingled in, he refuses to acknowledge it.

“But without freedom, and he’d have to spread his legs whenever your son demands it!” Unther says, and Jian nods.

“Yes; though I dare say he might grow to enjoy that.”
